Alex from Building Bridges has just returned from her first visit to Chicago.
And she's in love.
But of course.
Her Chicago report is well worth a visit, if only to stroll through her suburb photos of the city. Well, stroll and come to the realization that I do indeed have excellent taste in adopted homes, if I do say so myself.
Alex, not long ago I was one of those friendly Chicagoans who instinctively asked the map-bearing lost if I could help, or rambled off the detailed history of a corner or a building....

One of my professors was quite impressed with the level of knowledge and engagement of the locals with their city and its architectural history...
Although the race dynamics are a bit different from what we see in Canada, I still enjoyed it immensely. Living there for a year or two might be in future plans... Coming from someone who wouldn't have considered living anywhere in the US not too long ago, it is quite a compliment ;)
Thanks for referring back to my post...
on another note - I guess we'll have to replace our plans to visit Salamanca for a few days' walk along the camino aragonés. If I wanted to walk for about 3 days, having one night in your albergue, where could I start and finish that would have public transit connection to get back to Barcelona? I found a way of getting to Jaca from Zaragoza, but I'm not sure about Sanguessa... Would that be the best place to stop? Unfortunately, I won't have time to do the whole camino aragonés but would like to walk for a few days...
PS: my blog is on wordpress, not typepad....
Hey Alex, I'll write you about the Camino.
And I put up two posts in far too much of muddled hurry yesterday and screwed up both-- luckily here it was just your URL; which I fixed right away when you told me. Sorry. I shall pay attention or cease the blogging, I've decided. :)
