Salamanca in summer

The wild flowers along the river are dried now, and the grass is brown, and tired of the heat. But oh! the lavender. Lavender loves Salamanca summers. I only wish I could offer you a scratch and sniff screen!

  • We have it here where I live but contained and in gardens ... and in pots on the balcony.

I love the look of it wild.

  • Oh, dear, it's not wild; I suspect the ayuntamiento's garden guys planted it---mounds of it, in different spots - on the street that leads to my house, alongside the old city wall (the pics). It's just SO thriving, so blissful in this Spanish summer weather, and so fragant, the air here in the summer picks up scents so well.....
In my terraza in fact, everybody is droopy and hot...except the lavender, which is thriving and perfuming...

  • Ah, I wish you could offer scratch and sniff too! I LOVE lavender! And jasmine, but luckily, someone around here seems to grow it so in the spring I caught lovely wiffs of it.

And lavender has the added bonus of being purple.
