When I was a kid living on a farm we played "guess the colour". We opened poppies before they blossomed and unravelled their petals.
They come in many different colours... But red is my favourite. Great photo!

Cream, late reply, but I have only seen red, I think. Wild, everywhere, in Spain - along the roadside, growing out of walls, you name it. I'd open some to see what you guys (you too Nomadita) were after as kids, but I don't know, I hate to deny the world a fully bloomed poppy, or a poppy her chance to bloom.....LOL; I mustbe getting old...
